My TEDx talk was about why General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics don’t get along—and a few of the ideas trying to fix that. I spoke in 2026. I’m organising the 2027 event.

What I talked about
Why our two best theories don’t agree
General Relativity explains very large things and Quantum Mechanics explains very small things. Both work extremely well, but they disagree in places where we need both of them.
I talked about gravity and the different ways it is explained across the two theories. I finished on some ideas that might solve the problem, including String Theory and the idea of a “Theory of Everything”.
Giving the talk was amazing. I learned a lot while researching it, on top of my existing knowledge and had great fun on the day. There were eight youth speakers and four older speakers, all talking about “Bridges” in completely different ways, one literally.

Organising it
This year I’m one of three student organisers of TEDxDulwich Youth, on 28 February 2027.

What it is
The event I spoke at in 2026, happening again on 28 February 2027. I’m one of three student organisers; the TEDx licence is held by an adult.
What I do
I drive it forward, and I do all of the technical work:
- the information site for applicants (a Google Site)
- posters and the application forms
- advertising decks and the scripts that go with them
- coordinating the drama department (the event is in their theatre), marketing and its rules about what we can post, our sister school, and staff
